Pam Shriver, former Olympic gold medalist now a mother of three has said she bonds with her children through tennis. She has also said that she never expected the sport she achieved fame and greatness through would help her on a personal level too.
Pam, who once upon a time was known to upset the greats of her generation has said that she considers her ten year old son to be her toughest opponent till date. However, the reason may be because after her retirement she did not continue playing tennis.
One of the greatest tennis player, Pam has also said her son and her twins all love the sport their mother was good at. She has also said her son George Jr. has shown a great deal of interest in the sport which in turn has led her to guide him with care and attention.
Her twins, Kate and Sam she has said still need to come up of age so that they can play the sport in a more coherent manner. Pam has also said if George continues with his interest in a more serious manner. She would make sure he will be getting the best help he needs.
Although Pam has time and again said it does not make any difference to her if her children choose a career in tennis or not. Pam has also said after her divorce when she felt she was not being able to bond with her children in the right way tennis gave her that.
Pam has been married twice and has three children from her second marriage. Her first husband Joe Shapiro passed away in 1999. Her second marriage was to actor George Lazenby with whom she has her children.
However the marriage was not fruitful for her and she filed for a divorce against Lazenby in 2008.
On a professional scale Pam has had a very illustrious career. Throughout her career she has won twenty one singles title even after being well known to be a doubles player. Her only Grand Slam win came in the doubles category and so did her Olympic gold.
She had reached the US open finals at one instance however she could not win it and ended up as runner up in the competition. That was the closest she got to winning a singles Grand Slam. It also happened to be the only finals as a singles player that she took part in.
Pam’s net worth is $10 million. Most of her earnings came through her winnings. She is currently a tennis broadcaster for ESPN. She is known for her thorough and intricate analyses of the game and also her post match analysis.
