An American journalist, Hoda Kotb is best known as the co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today. She also has been the co-host of the show- Kathie Lee Gifford. So, if you are interested to know about Hoda Kotb, then here are five facts about her.

Hoda Kotb was born in 1986 in Norman, Oklahoma. She is not only the child of her parents as she has a brother- Adel and a sister- Hala. Although she was born in Oklahoma, she grew up in West Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.

Hoda Kotb- Worked as a News Anchor since 1980s

Hoda started her career as a general assignment reporter and morning news anchor for WQAD-TV. And from the year 1989 to 1991, she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter for WINK-TV in Florida.

Hoda also has been a Dateline NBC correspondent since 1998 and at present, she is the co-host of the 4^th hour of NBC’s Today. From the year, 2004 to 2008, she was also the host of the weekly syndicated series- Your Total Health. In the year 2015, she tried out her luck in acting and started in Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, where she played herself.

Hoda Kotb- Was a diagnosed with Breast Cancer

In the year 2007, Hoda was diagnosed with breast cancer. She opened up about her battle with cancer during an interview with Ann Curry. Hoda has a reconstructive and mastectomy surgery. She could undergo chemotherapy treatment but she decided to take Tamoxifen- short of the pill form of chemo which she would take every day for the next 5 years.

During the period of her fight with cancer, the pill she used interrupted the reproductive system. She shared with Today that the time that she swallows those pills, the pills were doing two different things to her. First, they were fighting with her cancer and next they were taking away the opportunity for her to be a mother. But she takes then every day and every night.

Hoda Kotb- Dating Joel Schiffman

Hoda is in a relationship with boyfriend, Joel Schiffman since 2013. As the show, Today was very much careful to keep her relationship secret. As per the report of People magazine, Hoda and Schiffman met each other at a Wall Street event.

Hoda Kotb- Adopted a Daughter

The couple dated each other for 4 years but Hoda doesn’t want to get married. During a chat with E! News, Hoda said,

“I have already done it once, so, unlikely, but really, whoever knows in life? …Life is so crazy, who knows? I have a dog now, and who would ever think that?”

And in Feb 2017, Hoda and Joel welcomed(adopted) a baby girl into their family. After her fight with cancer, she felt that she is missing something very important thing form her life and she asked Joel that she wanted to adopt a baby, he immediately was on board.

Hoda Kotb’s ex-husband- Burzis Kanga

Hoda was married to her husband, Burzis Kanga in the year 2005 but soon after two years of their marriage, she filed a divorce in 2007. Talking about their first meet, they met each other in an event in New Orleans. It was Burzis who proposed her and tied the knot in Punta Cana.
