In November 2017, Natalie Portman was reported to be honored by The Genesis Prize Foundation with the Genesis Prize Laureate, which is equivalent to the Nobel Prize in Isreal.
Israeli culture and sports Minister Miri Regev on April 20, 2018 morning says she regrets the decision taken by Israeli-American actress not to fly Israel to receive an award. In the statement, she accused the star of succumbing to the pressure of the BDS Movement.
The Oscar-winning star announced on April 19, 2018, that she will not be attending the Genesis Prize Ceremony in coming June and cited “recent events.”
The Dark World star representative explains that the “recent events” in her born country have been extremely distressing to her and feel no more comfortable to appear in any public events in Israel.
How people reacted on Twitter with her decision-
Portman chose the all or nothing of BDS. She chose to shut down instead of debate. She chose to pull out instead of influence. She chose to stand beside Israel's haters instead of having impact from within. You can't make change -2M$ worth -when you turn your back & walk away.

In fact, she is not the only one to cancel her trip to Israel citing the political reason. Lorde canceled her show in Dec 2017 after an activist told her to reconsider her appearance.
