While British actor Harrison Osterfield was trying hard to break into the industry with minor roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and George Clooney's Hulu project "Catch 22," his hard work and luck paid off when he secured a lead role in Netflix's highly anticipated series "The Irregulars."
Surely, his early career phase as an actor was not the smoothest ride of his life, however, he did not disappoint the viewers with his outstanding performance in the show. Want to learn more about Harris' screen career? Don’t miss out on reading this one!
Harrison Osterfield Hails From Britain
The actor-model Harrison John Osterfield was born on July 4th,1996 in the beautiful Surrey of the United Kingdom. He is 26 years old as of 2022.
From 2008 to 2014, Osterfield enrolled at Caterham School as a boarding student. During this time, he participated in drama clubs which eventually made him grow fonder in the acting field.
The Surrey-born Harrison had a strong passion for acting as he enrolled in BRIT School in dreams of reaching Hollywood. He went to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to further enhance his skills as an artist.
The 25-year-old Is Best Friends with TOM HOLLAND!
It is crazy to think how small the world actually is! Osterfield met The Devil All The Time actor Tom Holland during his years in BRIT School. They’ve been close friends ever since, even ended up living together for years.
The Irregulars’ Lead Once had a Hard Time Finding Work
Harris graduated from theater school at the age of 18 and was eager to get started, but he struggled to find work right away. Holland called him one day to tell that he was working on a small project in Atlanta for the movie — "Spider-Man: Homecoming" — and asked Harris, his best friend, to join him as his assistant.
This was an amazing opportunity for Osterfield and he grasped it right away! In an interview with WWD he mentioned,
“To have that opportunity of going straight from drama school to one of these sets, not working as an actor, but learning from an experienced actor and just seeing how these big steps work, was a real amazing experience.”
From 2016, he spent the next year and a half shadowing Holland, learning how to be an actor on set until he was ready to take a chance.
Beginning Of His Own Professional Career
The 26-year-old landed his breakthrough role of Snowden in the Hulu original series Catch 22 in 2018. The series was directed by the great George Clooney and received two Golden Globe nominations, including Best Miniseries.
In 2019, he and his friend Greg Birks launched Village People, a comedic podcast. They play Simon and Mark, two characters who conduct interviews with the citizens of a fictional English town.
However, Harrison Osterfield's bravado isn't limited to George Clooney and podcasts, he has a lot to offer.
Getting a Lead Role For Netflix’s series 'The Irregulars'
Osterfield is stepping into a new world. A world of big screens and spotlights where he wouldn’t just become an assistant or a side character.
Just recently in 2021, the actor was cast as a lead for the Netflix Series ‘The Irregulars’. While his past working experiences guided him, it was the set of The Irregulars that helped him grow as an artist.
In the show, Osterfield was cast as Leo, a character based on Queen Victoria's son, Prince Leopold, and was charged with portraying a quick-witted young man who suffered from chronic illness as a child.
Likewise, the show stars other rising as well as well-established actors like McKell David, Thaddea Graham, Jojo Macari, and others.
He proved to us that he is a fantastic performer through the series. Unfortunately, due to lack of viewership and unaffordable production cost, Netflix swiftly rejected the making of Season two for the series.
As the actor has already opened new doors of opportunity after his outstanding performance in the show, we will surely see him in bigger pictures in no time.
