"I think that the 50th anniversary really influences this film in a way," Quinto said at a panel discussion at Tribeca Film Festival.

The documentary ‘For the Love of Spock’ is conceived as a tribute of Adam Nimoy to his legendary father, Leonard Nimoy, who passed away in February 2015 after diagnosed with terminal cancer.

At the event, the lawyer-turned director son of late Leonard Nimoy expressed his feelings on making the documentary, which he calls ‘spockumentary’.

“I was overwhelmed by the response and emotion from fans all over the world. It was clear to me at that point that I needed to expand the film to include his life, clearly, and his legacy. And then as I began to delve into that quite a bit, it became increasingly clear that my own perspective on my own story was kind of bound up in that.”

Director Nimoy concluded the documentary as a gift to all the fans to celebrate and process the loss of his father.
