We have all laughed and spent hours enjoying The Big Bang Theory and there is no doubt about its popularity. But, what about the backstage - the cast who are behind the characters of Leonard, Penny and the awesome annoying yet lovable Sheldon Cooper? Not only the show’s main characters, but even the productions cast is one rich affair and the show’s writer Chuck Lorre is one of the richest writers in Hollywood.

If reports are to be believed, Lorre has an estimated net worth of $600 million. Yes, that is one hell lot of money- apparently more than actors such as Charlie Sheen and Nigel Pearson have. Well, analyzing it, the worth is not at all shocking. After all, this very guy is responsible for creating these two great on-screen characters!!!

Born in Bethpage, New York to a Jewish family, his family suffered from financial crisis when he was young. Due to this, Lorre dropped out of the State University of New York at Potsdam after only two years of pursuing a degree in music. A rock and roll major dropout, he recalls being an alcoholic and is now recovering from the affects.

Also a director, producer, composer and production manager, he is responsible for creations of many super hit series. His sitcom includes the likes of shows such as Grace Under FireCybillDharma & GregTwo and a Half MenThe Big Bang TheoryMomRoseanne and Mike & Molly.

Big Bang Theory follows two physicists with strong IQs yet no amiable social skills who befriend a hot, attractive waitress Penny, played by Kailey Cuoco. The series revolves around the lives of the three including four other characters, who have now starred as lead characters as well. Sheldon and Leonard, the two main actors, were apparently named after the actor and television producer Sheldon Leonard. The show, which aired back in 2007, remains the highest rated American sitcom till date.

Due to his great series, he has been nominated for and even won several awards. His awards include BMI Television Music Awards in 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009 for the show Two and a Half Men. He has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Not only this, Lorre was also awarded an honorary degree from the very State University of New York at Potsdam and was also inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.

Lorre, who has now reached the age of 62, first married Paula Smith back in 1979 with whom he also bought a house. Also business partners, the relationship lasted for around 13 years before the writer divorced his wife. The pair have two children together. He has also been married to actress Karen Witter. The two married back in the year 2000, only to be separated after 10 years.
