John Denver's Death: How Did He Die?
The singer-songwriter tragically passed away on 12th October 1997 after his light homebuilt aircraft, a Rutan Long-EZ, crashed into Monterey Bay near Pacific Grove, California. At that time, he was making a series of touch-and-go landings at the nearby Monterey Peninsula Airport.
The reason for his death was multiple blunt force trauma as a result of the crash. Denver was just 53 years old when he passed away.
Later National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the leading cause of the accident was John's inability to switch fuel tanks during flight.
After his death, in his honor, Colorado Governor Roy Romer ordered all state flags to be lowered to half-staff. The funeral service was held at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colorado on 17th October 1997.
His remains were cremated and scattered in the Rocky Mountains. On 24th October 2014, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California.
