According to Fortune Magazine, Charlie Rose is America's tallest, handsomest, best-connected, most inquisitive and most talkative late-night TV interviewer. He has been involved in some very high profiled interviews with the likes of Bill Gates, Bruce Springsteen , Tim Geithner, the Treasury secretary; Larry Summers, the principal economics adviser to President Obama; Peter Orszag, the director of the Office of Management and Budget and Paul Krugman, the Nobel laureate in economics.
But amidst all the time spent on hosting with these high profile interviews, has he forgotten that he has a life of his own? After all these years in the spotlight, it seems that Charlie's personal life has taken a back seat, especially after his divorce with ex wife Mary King in 1980, which ended their 12 year married life. After his divorce, he has been linked up with very few women; most notably with Amanda Burden, an urban planner whom he has reportedly been dating since 1993.
In an interview with Fortune magazine, the CBS This Morning show host has admitted his disappointment in not even having a niece or a nephew to continue the Rose blood. But he did say that "If I was madly in love with someone who offered the opportunity to spend our lives together, I would love to have a child or adopt a child."
Is this an indication that, at the age of 73, Charlie Rose has opened the gates for all the ladies to come into his life and is now finally ready to start a family? For his 132 thousand twitter followers and many other admirers, is this the chance to be the 'one' for Charlie Rose? Maybe not, because if history tells us anything, then the 'one' for Charlie is most likely to be his on and off girlfriend Amanda Burden, whom he has been with for the last two decades.
Does this mean Charlie and Amanda are planning to tie the knot any time soon? The answer might be yes. Charlie is already a godparent of two of Amanda's grandchildren and their relationship saga has stood the test of time. So it is very reasonable to expect them to get married, even if it may be a case of too little too late. Such a simple solution to the 'Rose bloodline' problem, isn't it?
Yet, to complicate the matters, according to a source, Charlie recently had a one-on-one meeting with a 'mystery woman', with whom he dined at Harry Cipriani at The Sherry-Netherland hotel. The sources say that Rose waited for a long time before this mystery woman showed up. All we can say is that this woman might be special.
So after all these speculations, the bottom line is Charlie Rose is still single. Only he knows if he wants to have a family or not. We hope he gets married soon and has a happy married life ahead. But till then all we can do is wait for his next move.
