Tom Bergeron pays tribute to late father on his show and on Twitter, call him "best man" at his wedding and in life

Tom Bergeron paid a very emotional tribute to his late father on ABC reality series Dancing with the Stars last week after making his return to the hit dance show.  Bergeron was replaced by the winner of the 19th season of the show Alfonso Ribiero on October 5th after the former had to rush to his ailing father’s side.

Though the star made it to his beloved father in his final days, the old man didn’t make it and passed away a few days later. Following his father’s death the America’s funniest Home Videos host offered an emotional tribute to his dead father in Dancing With the Stars.

Bergeron’s dad, Raymond Bergeron, left the world after struggling with an illness for a long time and Bergeron, as a dutiful son, didn’t disappoint his father after his demise. The 60 year old host honored the soul of his father and prayed he rest in peace.

He said during the show: "I want to take a moment to say that my dad loved this show. Never missed an episode. And I'd like to think somewhere that he didn't miss this one."

After the episode, the famous host and comedian shared a touching photo of him with his father with a caption, "At my wedding and in my life, The Best Man. RIP."

He also took to Twitter to share a memory of his father that said: "My Dad, looking back on his life, had one word for all of his worries; 'insubstantial.' Nicely said."

Last year Tom Bergeron announced his departure from ABC’s reality show America’s Funniest Home Video and was replaced by none other than Alfonso Ribeiro. The Dancing With the Stars host Bergeron took some time off from the show to spend some time with his ailing father along with his wife in his last moment. He flew home after receiving news about his father’s degrading health.

After Bergeron flew home to his father, Alfonso Ribeiro was announced as his temporary replacement. Ribeiro joined Erin Andrews as host.

After flying home, Bergeron, aged 60, took to his Twitter to share the news and express his gratitude towards his fans for their love and support.

'I'll miss 2morrow's #dwts to be at my Dad's bedside,' he wrote.

'He's given me a lifetime of support. Time to return the favor.'

Bergeron who receives $150,000 in salary and has an estimated net worth of $16 million, shared a lovely black-and-white flashback snap of himself as a boy with his father, which was later shared by his replacement host Ribiero on his Instagram. The former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor wrote alongside the shared picture: 'I will be filling in for @tombergeron tomorrow night on @dancingabc.'

'I will be there with a heavy heart for my friend Tom and the Bergeron family.'
