Taylor Hackford invests in the controversial movie streaming service, The Screening Room

Taylor Hackford invests in the controversial movie theater, ‘The Screening Room’.

The popular Taylor Hackford is even more popular now with him investing in the controversial movie theater, ‘The Screening room’.

‘I’m told that  Martin Scorsese, Taylor Hackford, Frank Marshall and even more can be added to a reported list that includes Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, JJ Abrams and Imagine’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. There is one major theater chain aboard already, AMC, and it would seem momentum is growing for a new set-top box technology that would allow consumers to see movies at home when they open in theaters, at a $50 price point.” Says Mike Fleming, Jr. of Deadline

The movie streaming service is surely a grand one and a controversial one. That’s why fans are concerned about his investment possibly going way ward.

The whole theater community is on the way to persuade the theaters to show their movie regardless of the given controversy. They say it is new outlook to the horizon to the movie industry.

They say, “This is an extension of their screen business by plugging into consumers with money to shell out $50 but no time to leave the house to go the movie theater”.

They are also trying to persuade the studios that this could restore the safety net they lost when DVD revenues cratered. It is the most disruptive concept, but everybody in Hollywood knows how the movie business can go wayward. And it was inevitable that somebody would come up with a way to exploit that.

So Mr. Taylor, all we can say is good luck.

Taylor Hackford is one of the rarest gems in Hollywood. He is a well acclaimed American film director and the former president of the Directors Guild of America. He has directed many movies and tv shows. ‘An officer and a Gentleman’ and ‘Ray’ are his most popular feature movies that he has directed.

He won the 1979 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short film for ‘Teenage father’.

Hackford has been married to Academy Award- winning actress Helen Mirren since 1997. He met Helen when he was directing her in ‘White Nights’. Although their first meeting did not go well as he kept her waiting to audition for White Nights and she was icy, the two hit it off eventually.

"It was a strange way to meet Helen, because she is a lovely person," says Hackford, "but she didn’t hold back her fury”, he further adds. They are in happy marriage and they do not seem to be getting divorced any time soon. Helen even vowed of not getting married again. This shows how much she is into Hackford. He surely is the luckiest man on earth. Hackford has already two grown up children from a previous wife.

The net worth of the director is reported to be $20 million.
