Tamron Hall - Biography

Tamron Hall is a well known American journalist and host, who is the news anchor of the MSNBC show News nation and MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall. Hall who is a graduate of Temple University is in a relationship with another news anchor Lawrence O’Donnell.

She is a Virgo and has a height of 5 feet and 9 inches. Tamron is one of the few black journalists in America who has reached the heights of success.

Early Life and Career

Tamron Hall was born on the 16th of September in 1972 at Lulling, Texas. She passed her childhood there modestly with her stepfather and her mother Mary Newton. She also had a sibling Renate who died in 2004 after she was beaten to death. Although she had a stepfather, her relationship with him was very nice and he was the man who inspired her to pursue a career in journalism.

Tamron joined the Temple University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her under graduation, she worked as a General Assignment reporter for KTVT in Dallas. Prior to that, she worked at KBTX in Bryan, Texas as a general assignment reporter again.

Journalism and Popularity

With a degree in Journalism Hall worked as a reporter for the KTVT. However, after that, she shifted to Chicago, where she worked for WFLD-TV and that too for a period of ten years. Tamron Hall worked in WFLD as general assignment reporter, host, and even a consumer reporter.

She also anchored programs like –Fox News in the Morning and also hosted weekday morning programs. Along with that during her tenure there she covered major stories like Amtrak’s heart-wrenching accident in Illinois. She also won several recognitions for her work and earned a nomination at the Emmy Awards in 1999 for her segment “The Bottom Line.”

However, in 2007 Tamron Hall shifted to MSNBC after spending a decade at WFLD. At MSNBC Tamron anchors the weekday noon shows NewsNation. The show is especially known for featuring high-profile interviews, political coverage of the US along with comprising the world news.

She is known for her sarcastic yet serious comments over the issues which are very popular among the viewers. Recently on the program, she had also slammed Scott Baio over defaming women with trolls on Twitter and that included the first lady Michelle Obama and Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton.

After working in MSNBC Tamron has also covered many path-breaking stories that include the Presidential elections of 2016, a death of Osama Bin Laden, Space shuttle launch in 2011 and Hurricane Isaac in 2012.

Tamron Hall often hosts for the news and Orange room. Not just that currently she also anchors the show Deadline: Crime on Investigation Discovery channel.

On July 2017, it was stated that she and Harvey Weinstein were creating a daytime talk show that would be hosted and executive produced by Hall.

Awards and Recognition

Tamron Hall is an award-winning journalist with several of them in her kitty. While in her graduate school, she earned the Lew Klein Alumni award from the Temple University in 2010. Not just that she was also nominated for many awards for her work.

Social Work

Tamron Hall is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She has also received appreciation for her work in the field of anti-domestic violence and issues related to teens and hunger. In addition, she also strives to end illiteracy and the problem of shelter.

Controversy

Tamron Hall has been dragged to controversy, many times due to her strong approach towards issues and her belief and ideologies. In fact, there have been times when her Twitter account has created a havoc. However, Tamron is an avid feminist and condemns domestic violence too.

Tamron Hall on April 2016 opened up about the incident of domestic violence which killed her sister Renate. She added that nobody deserved the ending she faced. Renate was found dead in a pool of blood in 2004at her house in Texas after being beaten to death. Therefore Tamron is seen many times in campaigns of Anti-Domestic Violence for the Today’s show Shine a Light.

However, Tamron Hall has been in a relationship with Lawrence O’Donnell for a long time. Lawrence who was previously married to Kathryn Harrold in 1994 divorced after 14 years of marriage in 2008. The couple has a daughter Elizabeth Buckley Harrold O’Donnell.
