Not every guy can think of proposing his girlfriend by calling Ed Sheeran to the stage and asking him to sing their favorite song. But Jake Roche has done the same as the singer proposed to girlfriend Jesy Nelson as Sheeran sang his song Tenerife Sea. Roche, the lead vocalist of the band Rixton, apparently is a great friend with the teenage sensation and thanked the Thinking Out Loud hitmaker on Twitter.
Jesy Nelson recently discussed the heartwarming moment her boyfriend Jake Roche proposed to her on stage at Manchester Arena yesterday afternoon. Speaking to Key 103, the hot singer admitted she wasn't expecting him to propose so soon but said the moment was "amazing".Jesy said:
"To be honest, it was all a bit of a blur. I thought we'd finished sound check and then lo and behold, old Ed [Sheeran] walks on. I had my back turned to him and the girls were like, 'Jess, Jess' and then I turned around and he sang mine and Jake's song, 'Tenerife Sea'. And as soon as he sang that, I just balled."
She continued: "We've spoken about [marriage] but I never thought that it was going to happen, not today! It sounds so strange but it felt like the feeling of when we won The X Factor." Nelson, who is a singer herself and one-fourth of music group Little Mix ,posted a snap of the proposal on her Instagram account.
Jake, who is only of age 22, rose to fame after charting internationally with "Me and My Broken Heart". He played Isaac Nuttall in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale and Matt in the 2010 BBC musical film Rules of Love. He has one sibling from his parents' marriage, and four half-siblings.
Before going into movies, Jake attended St Mary's Catholic College in Blackpool prior to moving to London. The frontman of the band Rixton, Rixton's first music video was released in October 2013 entitled "Make Out," an upbeat song that lampoons on famous music videos from Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga,Robin Thicke, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. Their first official single, "Me and My Broken Heart" is taken from their EP of the same name.
Roche, who stands at a height of 5’7”, trained at The Sylvia Young Theatre School for two years and appeared in the film Finding Neverland. In 2010 he auditioned for the part of Isaac Nuttall in Emmerdale. Of the auditions, he has said that he did not tell anyone who his parents were, Roche has said "I'd never go off mum and dad’s back because I wanted to know I could hold my own in a job like this. He was subsequently cast in the part and appeared on screens from August to October 2010. In 2014, along with his band, he appeared on the Nickelodeon series, The Haunted Hathaways, as themselves.
Now that the young singer is engaged, many more responsibilities are on the way for the hitmaker. Nonetheless, the two remain very happy with each other. Wishing them all the best!
