Shawn O'Malley recalled from Tacoma and he is right back in the Mariners lineup. The utility man is set to start in center field vs. Angels.

“Just here to help this team win and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that happens,” O’Malley said before the game. Wow! That is so determined of him.

If we recall, Shawn had already played 5 different positions for the Rainiers this season. And Scott Servais, the manager pictures a similar super-utility role for him with the Mariners.

“Obviously, Shawn’s been here before. He had a great spring training,” Servais said. “The versatility that he brings, we’re a little bit more comfortable with him in the outfield at this time. But we really like Luis Sardinas, like (his) upside. He’s a younger player. He’s done a nice job while he got a chance to play, but he just hasn’t played. He needs to get out and get playing and try to get some timing back so when we do call him back he can add more to our team.”
