American Hip-hop recording performer, Quincy Matthew Hanley, better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q has been staging himself as a rapper in the music industry since 2009. 29-year-old Quincy was first signed with an independent recording label called Top Dawg Entertainment. He has undergone various associated acts with top artists such as ASAP Rocky, Jhene Aiko, and Tyga. Germany-born Schoolboy successfully released his first individual album titled Setbacks in 2011.
At present, Schoolboy is working with American recording company Interscope Records. Interscope runs under the name of its parent company Universal. Other than Schoolboy, other artists such as Aloe Blacc, Lana Del Ray, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and Eminem are linked with the recording company. Music legends such as 2Pac, 50 Cent, Common were previously in contract with Interscope.
With the release of his first album Setbacks, it reached number 100 on the US BillBoard top 200 albums. Additionally, more than 1000 digital copies of the album were sold solely in the first week of its release. It was this album that brought the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards nominated artist to the limelight.
His net worth is estimated to be around $3 million. According to Hiphopdx.com, he has been able to set a tough competition in the hip-hop music industry through his musical hits such as Collard Greens (with Kendrick Lamar), Man of the year, That part (with Kanye West).
Furthermore, the Scorpion singer earns a significant amount from product endorsements for companies such as Buscemi, IF & Co., and Zanerobe.
Schoolboy Q’s recent album which was released in June 2016 “Blank Face” has sold around 72k copies in its starting week and also has managed to reach #2 on the Billboard top 200 chart. Furthermore, Q who has around 1.75 million followers on Twitter announced in July 2016 the dates for his forthcoming Blank Face tour in and around 13 countries. Moreover, Schoolboy will be accompanied by 21-year-old hip-hop recording artist Joey Bada$$ at selective dates and locations. The concerts where both the artists will be performing is limited to various states in the USA specifically Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida etc.
Schoolboy has a 6-year-old daughter named Joyce who was born in 2010. He has mentioned about his child in several of his songs and Joyce also has appeared in several of his music videos, notably, ‘Break the Bank’ and ‘There He Go’.
