Rapper The-Dream splits with Capital Records, Next Album might be Delayed for the twice Divorced singer, song writer

There’s bad news for the Fans of American rapper, songwriter and record producer, The Dream. His highly anticipated upcoming album Crown Jewel’s release date has been pushed back after a feud that ended his contract with Capital Records.

The album, which was supposed to make its way to the fans on July 10 was pushed back unceremoniously as the thread connecting the rapper and the record company was cut loose. We bet that The Dream fans are not happy about it. Their Dreams must have shattered.

The Dream recently released the track list from the album which contained total 16 songs. The Grammy winning songwriter aged 37 announced his departure from Def Jam through an Instagram post. He stayed with the label for seven years straight from 2007 till 2014. He released five albums including 2013’s IV Play. In 2014 The-Dream signed a distribution deal with Capital. The whole affair was so hushed up that people hardly knew about it.

Now, the reports of him calling it quit with Capital surprised many. The Love Hate hit maker announced the end of the deal via a long Instagram post but he hasn’t said anything on Twitter. He revealed that despite several attempts of negotiation, the two parties hardly reached an agreement for Crown Jewel.

Here’s what The Dream, full name Terius Youngdell Nash, wrote on his post:

Out of Respect for Steve Barnett I will not point any blame at Capitol Records although I am reserved in my feeling about certain things. A 3 month long negotiation has ended and I am no longer being distributed by Capitol Records. My team tho in spite worked hard to retrieve masters in time to put them back up directly from Contra Paris , what happened; Because of the time the date has been pushed back as it took till yesterday to Get masters Back in order to have to even Put out at a Later Date. This is business so even though personally I am responsible for my music , the other parts sometimes you can't control and when something's not right I'd rather have the Time to make it the best vs just throwing things out. The album as you see was completely done April 21st and fortunately I own them , however when you take a product back and then want to distribute yourself after Codes are in systems at various Outlets, Tidal,iTunes exit. It has to be recoded and unfortunately the date changes based on all proceeds coming direct to Contra Paris rather than being split between a Major. Basically even tho I have the record I could not put it up either. Doesn't change the fact that I have a lot of music and would love for it to be out but Things happen when you are fighting for what's right, we all will get over. Legally that's all I can say, "wink like a motherf**ker"

The Dream has always been at the height of media tabloids and controversies. He is quite famous for his high profile relationship with his ex-girlfriend Nivea and Christina Milian. Nivea and Nash were together from two years and he has three children with her. After a legal separation with Nivea, he started dating singer Christina Milian. They got engaged in 2009 and married the same year after Christina’s unexpected pregnancy but separated before their daughter’s birth after photos of Nash vacationing with his assistant surfaced on Internet. After the divorce, Nash married Lalonne Martinez. The funny thing is that both of his former lovers ended up dating Young Money rapper Lil’ Wayne.

We hope that The Dream aka the King of Controversies would come out with a cleaner image and release his much awaited album soon.
