Producer Chris Carter talks about the return of his popular TV show "The X-Files"'

Whenever there's talk of dynamic duos on TV, Mulder and Scully always come on top of the list.  It has been 13 years since the last episode of X-files aired, but fans can never get enough. But Fox surprised the fans of the sci-fi show earlier this year when they announced the X-Files miniseries.  Yep, after nine seasons and two movies, the X-Files is back with a six episode miniseries.

Fans were speculating a reboot at most but according to earlier reports David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles.  Some of the supporting cast, including Annabeth Gish, Mitch Pileggi and William Davis will also be reprising their respective roles.  New cast members include Kumail Najiani, Robbie Amell and Joel McHale amongst others. McHale was reportedly cast after the creator of the show, Chris Carter saw his performance in Sons of Anarchy.

Carter, who first created the X-Files in the 1990s has since gone on to do other projects but the X-Files still remains his most popular work. In addition to the X-Files, Carter has worked on Fox's Millenium, which was critically acclaimed but did not attract a lot of viewers. This was also the case with his other work, Lone Gunmen, which got cancelled after a season. He also created Harsh Realm but it was canceled after three episodes. Carter also wrote the two X-File movies, one of which was critically praised. The second X Files movie could not do as well as the first movie.

So, what got Carter to create another installment in the franchise? Carter said it was the team work. Talking about the miniseries with The Independent, Carter said, "The central reason is the esprit de corps. That is the reason to come back and do it again,"

"When you have a group of people working together, who all contribute to make it better, that is something. If you have never experienced it, that is somewhat miraculous. It is stepping into new shoes. That is not to say that the new shoes fit on arrival."

While the series only contains six episodes, Carter said that it was still hectic.

"When you shoot six, you think it is going to be a piece of cake. That isn't the case," He said. "It will take eight months of our lives, so it is an enormous undertaking, even though it seems like only a slice of what we had previously done."

Carter also said that he believes the miniseries will sit well with the fans. The targeted age group has definitely grown up, but who knows? It has already got people talking on Twitter.

Fox has released a teaser for the miniseries you can't tell much from it. But we are certainly hoping that Mulder and Scully are finally married and are doing Husband/Wife things now.
