Wil Myers exits match due to leg injury.

Call it a mishap or sheer bad luck, Will Myers was removed from Saturday’s game against the Brewers in the ninth inning with a leg injury.

Myers entered the weekend, along with Matt Kemp, in lengthy slumps, lashed consecutive doubles in one inning. In their next at-bats, they cranked two home runs in immediate succession. Together, they helped San Diego to a four-run lead.

Myers finished the night 2-for-5 with his seventh homer of the season. He seemed to tweak something while running out of the batter's box during his at-bat in the ninth inning. Jon Jay was called upon to pinch run for Myers, who will likely undergo further testing to determine the extent of his setback. The injury that eliminated Myers from the game was diagnosed with a calf cramp.

Myers talked about his injury to The San Diego Union Tribune,

"Running down the line, I felt it catch just a little bit, nothing crazy," said Myers, who'd grounded into a force out and was replaced by pinch-runner Jon Jay. "In that situation right there, I have to be able to score on a base hit or a double in the gap. With the way it was feeling, we decided it might not be the best for me to run right there. ... If we were up two runs (the score was tied at 6-all), I would’ve finished that game at first base. It was just one of those precautionary moves."
