Why did comedia Gabe Kaplan never get married?? Was it because of his TV wife Marcia Strassman?

If you are a famous Hollywood actor, comedian and a poker player cum commentator, then you will have women running after you even if you are in your 80s. But this does not apply in legendary comedian Gabe Kaplan’s life.

The actor is famous, talented, a professional poker player and a poker commentator as well. But unfortunately, the actor in his early 70s is still single and hasn’t married or dated anyone in his lengthy career in Hollywood. We don’t know why this once handsome and dashing star didn’t tie the knot or have wife and children when he was young. And there are several theories behind his wish to remain single throughout his whole life.

Several media outlets in Hollywood have tried their best to make Kaplan reveal the true reason behind his single life, but they have all failed miserably. He has been so private about his personal life that the only thing we can do is make speculations.

It is believed that the actor’s refusal to get hitched with any other women was one particular woman whom he was madly in love with. So who was that lucky woman? And if he was indeed in love with her then why didn’t he just confess his love for her?

Rumor has it that that woman was none other than one of the cast members of his hit 1970s sitcom, Welcome Back, Kotter. Many of his fans believe that the co-host and joint commentator for the series High Stakes Poker on GSN had fallen for his on-screen wife, actress Marcia Strassman.

They say that Kaplan was madly and deeply in love with this actress. But unluckily, things didn’t work out for him and he and Marcia never got a chance to be together. The ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ actress was in relationship with Robert Collector, which made it impossible for the actor to propose her. Collector and Strassman were married on 22 September 1984. The couple has a daughter named Elizabeth Collector and they later divorced in 1989.

Though Kaplan had fallen head over heels for the beautiful actress, Strassman revealed in an interview that she was not happy with the show and never really wanted to look back at those old memories. The actress played the role of Julie, Kaplan’s wife in the show, which aired on ABC from 1975 to 1979, while Kaplan played titular character played Gabe Kotter.

"I did not particularly enjoy 'Kotter,'" she told Calgary Herald in 1992. "I spent much of the four years being frustrated. I didn't have much to do on the show. I was just there when Kotter came home at the end of the day."

Her attitude towards her role in the show also created differences between the two. Strassman died in 2014 while battling breast cancer and a poor health. Some believe that after her death, the actor has kept himself away from the media limelight.

These are speculations and one could never know the real cause behind his boring single life, unless he says something himself.

The actor has an estimated net worth of $30 million and he does not have an official Twitter account of his own.
