Trevor Bayliss - former Australian player and current England Cricket Coach

Trevor Harley Bayliss is an Australian cricket coach and former player who is currently coaching the England National Cricket team. He was born on 21st December, 1962 in Goulburn, a regional city in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia, the same place where the former Bond actor George Lazenby was born. This may be why people often relate him to 007 actor, Lazenby.

However, Bayliss had a different talent than his fellow state man and became a cricketer, not an actor. Bayliss played for New South Wales between 1985 and 1997 as a middle order batsman. During that time he played 58 first class cricket matches and scored 3060 runs with a batting average of 35.58 runs. He scored 5 centuries and 15 half centuries which is a great achievement in itself. Although his role in the team was that of a batsman, he also sometimes grabbed ball and rained wickets for his team. He bowled off spin with his right hand and had been able to get 8 wickets in 538 balls in his career as a cricket player.

At 53 years of age, he is now the coach of England National Team and it is rumoured that he has been offered a very handsome salary. He has already coached Sri Lankans from 2007 to 2011 during which time the team emerged as the runner ups in the 2011 World Cup. He also coaches the Sydney Sixers in Australia's Big Bash League and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Under his management, the Knight Riders became IPL champions, twice, in 2012 and 2014. He also led the Sixers to a BBL title in the 2011-12 season and a CLT20 title the same year.

Bayliss is considered to be one of the rare people in cricket who get successful very quickly. John Buchanan, Matthew Mott and Dav Whatmore did not make the finals with Kolkata Knight Riders in the first four seasons of the IPL. Bayliss won the competition in his first season in charge. And with Sydney he won the very first season of the Big Bash.

On his Twitter page Shane Warne wrote, ‘If Trevor Bayliss is the new coach of England, then England are very lucky, as he is a ripper & even better, he's pure old school too...’

Bayliss is one of the lucky few people who survived a terrorist attack in Sri Lanka. He worked for four years as Sri Lanka's coach with Paul Farbrace, the current England stand-in coach, as his assistant. The pair were both on the Sri Lankan team bus when it was attacked by terrorists in Pakistan in 2009.

An exceptional cricket star and even a greater coach who inspires him team mates and help them give their best, Bayliss, is quite a romantic person. He always prefers to keep his personal life and professional life separate. He has married a beautiful wife who has given him two beautiful children.
