Sean Parker, the founder president of Facebook to donate $250 million Cancer immunotherapy research.

April 13, 2016, Sean Parker, founder Napster and the founding president of Facebook, has stated that he is going to invest $250 million for cancer immune therapy.

According to Sean, this is because the benefit far exceeds any amount of cost. He had also posted this news on Twitter for his followers to see.

It’s the turn of the evolution in the medical field and the answer to the remedy of cancer is just around the corner. While many people are investing in the cancer patient it seems Sean is trying to eradicate the disease from the root

TME has recently stated that the logic behind the concept is that the remedy would increase “the immune system’s ability to seek out and destroy invaders,” as TIME explained in a recent cover story. The method of treatment has gained awareness in recent months after former President Jimmy Carter saw success in treating his melanoma with an immunotherapy drug, but it is still in its early phases.

This investment is the largest ever for cancer immunotherapy and comes just 3 months after President Obama’s $1 billion federal cancer research program.

Sean Parker has taken this initiative for the greater good of the humanity. “Patients and their families battling cancer don’t have time for bureaucracy to sort itself out. They have the right to be impatient. We need to make progress for faster for their sake.”

This has called together various leading researchers, clinicians, industry partners and scientists to work toward a common goal- triggering the body's own immune system to seek out and destroy cancer cells.

More than 40 laboratories and over 300 specialists have joined hand from six top cancer centers- the University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas, Stanford, Memorial Sloan Kettering, UCLA and UCSF. The researchers will conduct the study at their own home institution but will receive funding and access to other resources.

Dr. John Mazziotta vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences and CEO of UCLA Health had stated that "Cancer immunotherapy is one of the most important medical advances of our time, and there is now widespread scientific consensus that the immune system is a powerful mechanism to defeat cancer," as stated by Patch.com

The basic concept behind Immunotherapy is that it uses the body's own immune system to help fight cancer. This is considered one of the most promising areas of emerging cancer research by far.

Despite investing such a large amount, it seems it does not guarantee a success, Parker stated in one of the interviews.

Cancer immunotherapy is such an incredibly complex field, and for every answer, it seems to pose 10 more questions. I’m an entrepreneur so I wish some of these questions had been answered yesterday.
