Robin Lopez being courted on NBA by Pelicans, Bucks, Knicks among others after recovering from last years's hand injury, expecting bump in salary

Everyone who follows basketball must be hearing a lot about Robin Lopez nowadays. He’s constantly being talked about when people are buying tickets and having basketball discussions. Standing at a sturdy height of 7 feet, it turns out that this guy had more to offer than just a nice hairstyle! A hand injury back in 2014 caused a dent in his professional career, but that did not stop this 27 year old from setting his own game in the NBA roster.

Once considered to be in the shadows of his twin brother Brook Lopez, Robin has created a name for himself with latest rumours suggesting that LA Lakers are highly interested in the defensive stalwart. He has started to develop into a very consistent performer for his team, a very important factor for a basketball player. After some mediocre seasons, he came to light after arriving in Portland. A great season there certainly increased his popularity. Not to forget, he certainly created a buzz amongst the fans when asked whether he was dating Khloe Kardashian last year.

When asked last year whether he was actually dating a Kardashian, he replied “You know, I'm not exactly certain of the veracity of those rumors .But what I can comment on, I suppose, is the fabrication of that power couple by the press. Obviously they were looking for two people with a lot of influence on popular culture, on the youth, and they were looking for two movers and shakers. Frankly, I'm not surprised they came up with my name.” Just for the record, he was injured during that period. But, he surely managed to remain in spotlight. Well played Robin! It turns out Robin does have a girlfriend who goes by the name Michelle Wie. The two apparently met at Stanford in 2008.Yes, he played for Stanford.

Lopez is currently a free agent and beyond Portland, his current club, Lopez is expected to have a list of suitors on July 1, and his connection to Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry has been clear around the NBA. Gentry coached Lopez during the seven-foot center’s first four seasons with the Phoenix Suns. But, there are rumours suggesting that Lopez is expected to be given a new contract by the Portland Trail Blazers. After all, he has started to become a fan favourite which can be easily seen through many people following his account on social networking sites. As of today, he has 88.2 K followers on Instagram. His twitter account is just as popular with 104K followers. One of the most underpaid professionals in the league; he’ll surely want a bigger salary now.

Basketball pundits consider him one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. Now with the new season coming, we can expect a lot of clubs approaching him. Right now, all we can do is wait and see what the future holds for this American.
