Robert Doyle's life is like a mystery drama.

Robert Doyle’s life has been a hell of a mysterious drama in the past few days. First an anonymous donation and now he is being threatened in real life as well as social media! That does sound like some mystery series’ plotline!

It all started back in October when Lord Mayor Robert Doyle received an anonymous donation of $50,000 to his campaign for re-election for a third term. The Lord Mayor had said, he will likely no longer take donations for re-election from property developers. But we do not know if the mysterious money donor is some property developer or not, all we know is that the mysterious donor’s name is Paul.

When asked by 3AW’s Neil Mitchell if he had received any campaign donations ever since his declaration of running for lord mayor for the third time, Mr. Doyle remarked,

"It's from an individual actually," he said. "It's from a gentleman called Paul. It is $50,000. He came to see me and said … 'I would like to support your campaign'. He is retired, he is of generous means."

When asked for Paul’s surname by The Age, Doyle didn’t utter a single word. Instead, he said he’d, “voluntarily declare and identify any election donations on my return of interests."

But the mystery drama does not end here!

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle allegedly received threats by skateboarders upset about council’s bid to stop them from skating on a Bali Bombing memorial in Carlton.

"We had residents complain to us about the behavior of skaters there, almost as if they own the place," Cr Doyle said on Thursday.

Apparently, about $10,000 worth of damage was caused including smearing of feces on a nearby worksite. And the threats don’t stop here, Cr Robert Doyle received additional threats on social media as well.

Cr. Doyle talks about the whirlwind going on in his life in an interview with 3AW Radio.
