Rachel Dolezal disguising herself as “Black” for years, Kelly Osbourne’s depiction of Dolezal sparks outrage

Rachel Dolezal, lately, has been all over the news. Well, the Former chief of NAACP Spokane Chapter grabbed much media attention after it was revealed that she was misrepresenting her ‘race’ and ‘background’. Her estranged parents, Lawrence and Ruthanne Dolezal publically said she is in fact ‘white’ and has been claiming to be ‘black’ for years.

In the midst of all this, TV personality Kelly Osbourne has been slammed after posting a picture of hers wearing a curly wig and posing as Rachel Dolezal.  Moreover, Osbourne has been hurled with accusations of hypocrisy by her fans after she posted that picture on Instagram with the caption reading “#CallMeRachel #MyCasualLook”. While some of her fans thought it was funny, most accused her of double standards, referring to her recent departure from E! Entertainment’s Fashion Police.

Osbourne, who has a net worth of $15 miliion, quit Fashion Police after her co-host Giuliana Rancic made racist remarks about Osbourne’s friend, Zendaya Coleman. After Zendaya donned dreadlocks at Oscars 2015, Rancic had said that she looked like she smelled of patchouli oil and weed.  Rancic later apologized for it but Osbourne quit the show. Osbourne had defended Zendaya then, thus being blasted by her fans about the recent post mocking Rachel Dolezal.

Dolezal has been heavily scrutinized by the public for pretending to be black. The public has lashed out on several social media platforms, #AskRachel was a top trending topic on Twitter.

Dolezal was heavily criticized after her parents revealed that she is a white, blonde person. Her adopted brother, 22 year old Ezra recently came forward saying that she asked him to not “blow his cover.” Recent reports about her biological brother, Joshua also came forward recently, with claims that Rachel’s ex-husband, Kevin Moore abused her. In his memoir, Joshua wrote that Rachel was afraid of her husband over the period of their marriage. Rachel and Moore got married in 2000. Rachel had a boyfriend, musician Maurice Turner, after her marriage with Moore ended. The couple got engaged in December, 2012 but they split up in 2013

An activist on racial issues, Dolezal was also the president of the National Association for The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Spokane chapter. NAACP is a black civil rights organization that advocates equality of rights and works towards elimination of racial hatred and discrimination. Dolezal quit presidency of NAACP amid the heightening controversies regarding her race.

Following the controversies, NAACP commented on the situation saying that race is not a determining factor for the NAACP leadership. They also said that they were respecting her privacy. Dolezal was expected to talk about the issues in a meeting that was scheduled for Monday but NAACP postponed the meeting saying that they needed to talk to national and regional NAACP leaders. However, in an interview with sky news, Rachel has said that she considers herself to be black.

The issue regarding Dolezal is still being addressed heavily by the media and the public, with facts being updated regularly. Some pictures have emerged of Dolezal and her family. The picture shows a blonde, white Dolezal posing with her father, mother and her siblings.

With Dolezal claiming to be black and evidence suggesting otherwise, no one is sure of what to expect next.
