Queen Latifah’s mother Rita Latifah died of Heart Condition

American rapper Dana Elaine Owens aka Queen Latifah announced the death of her mother. Queen Latifah’s mother Rita Owens passed away on 21 March 2018, Wednesday after a battle with a heart condition.

 

The 48 years old American rapper and singer shared the news of the demise of her mother in a statement claiming:

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news my mother, Rita Owens passed away today. 

She added:

Anyone that has ever met her knows what a bright light she was on this earth. She was gentle, but strong, sweet, but sassy, worldy but pragmatic, a woman of great faith and certainly the love of my life,

Shortly after the announcement, Latifah posted a moving tribute to her late mother via Instagram.

Queen Latifah’s mother had struggled with a heart condition for several years, and her battle is now over. Latifah explained that she is heartbroken but knows that her mother is at peace.

Rita Owens was diagnosed with a heart failure back in 2004 and was able to manage the condition for so long owing to proper medication, healthy diet on salt and fats, and a chest defibrillator.
