Pam Oliver and husband Alvin Whitney might be getting divorced!!

American sportscaster and journalist Pam Oliver, who is popular for her thick dark hair, became the inspiration for former newspaper reporter and author and her longtime friend, Sonja Lewis’ first book “The Barrenness”. The book deals with a serious subject matter of barrenness in women and reasons behind the harsh decision of not having kids. The book was widely praised and received a full support and love from female readers.

Oliver, who is known for her work on the sidelines for various National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL) games, is unable to have any child because of a medical condition called Uterine Fibroid. And it looks like her incapability to be a mother is hampering her married life as well. Rumor has it that the sportscaster’s marriage is on the rocks. We have been hearing tittle-tattle of her divorce with her husband of 25 years.

Oliver married her longtime boyfriend Alvin Whitney in 1990. He is a freelance producer and due to her condition, the couple has never been able to have kids of their own. Though she has no child, she is a stepmother to three kids from her husband’s previous marriage. And if we are to believe recent reports, she won’t even be a stepmother in a few months. A source has claimed that the sports journalist has decided to walk away from her husband’s life. According to the insider, she is getting a divorce with Whitney.

In an interview back in 2011, after the publication of Lewis’ book, Oliver referenced her ‘barrenness’: “Mine was a particularly terrible case. By my late 30s/early 40s, my thought was, ‘I don’t think that it’s going to be.’ It would have been a medical miracle if I had been able to get pregnant. Still, it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. In the end, though, as hard as it was to watch the door close, I didn’t fight very hard to keep it open.”

Then, Oliver admitted that though she could not get pregnant, she was satisfied with her life as she had a successful and high profile career with handsome salary and strong bond with family and friends. Back then, she openly said that she would never spend all her life’s savings for expensive surgeries and fertility treatments and would embrace the eternal empty-nest syndrome. And she proudly accepted that she didn’t regret her decision. So, we are rather shocked to hear the news about her divorce.

So after all these years, what made her decide to separate from her husband? Why did she suddenly make such a harsh decision to end her 25 years marriage? She herself said in the interview: “I went to a class reunion two years ago, and when the topic of kids came up it was a bit awkward. People just don’t understand it. They don’t believe that I am happy. They were still saying to me, at age 47, ‘Oh girl, it’s not too late,’ and I am like, ‘I don’t think so, honey.’”

So is society responsible for her decision? Why would a happy woman like her suddenly file for a divorce? After all, 25 years is not nothing. We don’t know for sure the reason behind her upcoming divorce, because our informant didn’t have the answer either.
