Norm DeBriyn has been named the SEC basketball legend for 2016.

2016 marks the fifth consecutive year that SEC has recognized a class of baseball legends.

As per the official announcement made by SEC, Norm DeBriyn has been named one of the SEC basketball legends, who will be introduced during the SEC Tournament between May 24 to 29.

 Auburn’s Gabe Gross, Georgia’s Cris Carpenter and Kentucky’s Scott Downs will be joining coach DeBriyn in the SEC honor presented by AT&T. SEC tweeted the announcement in it official twitter page.

Coach Norm DeBriyn, took over as head coach of the Arkansas baseball program in 1970 at the age of 28. In 33 years with Razorback baseball, DeBriyn coached 19 All-America selections, six Freshman All-Americans, 58 All-Conference choices and 48 All-Tournament selections.

DeBriyn was named SEC Coach of the Year in 1999 and earned SWC Coach of the Year six times (1978, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1989, 1990). He was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame and the Razorback Hall of Honor in 1991.

DeBriyn ranked 14th all-time in career wins among NCAA Division I head coaches with a record of 1,161-650-6 for a career winning percentage of .641. He still ranks as the University of Arkansas’ all-time leader in victories.
