NBC TV Show Host Tom Brokaw disses Donald Trump while promoting his book "A Lucky Life Interrupted", Twitter on fire

Former NBC newsman Tom Brokaw does not seem very impressed by rich and famous Donald Trump. Why? Let’s find out.

Former NBC newsman and author Tom Brokaw was showered with applauses as he dissed Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump a few days ago. The legendary American television journalist and managing editor of NBC Nightly News, was present at the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C where he was discussing his book, “A Lucky Life Interrupted”. While in the discussion, the author said that he was not a supporter of Mr. Trump.

Brokaw made a quite funny remark about the American real estate developer Donald Trump.

“If I was at NBC News right now leading with Donald Trump every night, I’d call in sick,” said Brokaw.

As he said so, every single person present in the room gave the iconic TV journalist a huge round of applause. This led to eruption of numerous tweets on Twitter. Many of Brokaw’s supporters and of course Trump’s haters tweeted Tom’s statement on Twitter.

“@tombrokaw: If I was at @NBCNews right now leading w @realDonaldTrump every night, I'd call in sick." #NatBookFest15”

“Tom Brokaw at nat bk festival: if I had to deal with nightly news & leading w/ Trump every night Id call in sick.”

“Tom Brokaw on leaving NBC: 'If I were there now, and leading with Donald Trump every night, I would call in sick.' *Room erupts in applause*”

Brokaw has never been one of those who would shower Donald Trump with words of praise. He has been criticizing Trump and his policies and his hateful speeches from the very beginning. The newsman talking to Politico recently told that “the Trump phenomenon will fizzle out as he becomes a victim of the ‘UFO rule’ in politics: ‘at some point, the unforeseen will occur’ and something will tank him.”

Brokaw also stated that Trump is someone who is not worthy of news coverage and he’s not the only one to think so. The popular Huffington Post announce in July that it will not feature Trump in its political section but rather in entertainment section

Tom Brokaw, aged 75 is married to his wife Meredith Lynn Auld, an author and former Miss South Dakota. The couple has three children. The pair spends most of their time at their ranch on the West Boulder River near Livingston, Montana.

The author became ill in 2012 and was hospitalized. He was later diagnosed with a cancer, multiple myeloma which affects blood cells in the bone marrow. Despite suffering from cancer, Brokaw showed considerable progress which encouraged the doctors treating him. In December, 2014, Tom announced that his cancer was in full remission.

Brokaw opened up about his battle with blood cancer in his memoir, “A Lucky Life Interrupted: A Memoir of Hope”.

Brokaw proved himself as a successful TV journalist of his time. He has also published a book called The Greatest Generation and several other as well.  He has received numerous awards and honors in his life time. He has also got an unofficial record as a person to host all three major NBC News programs/ TV shows: The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and, briefly, Meet the Press. He currently works as a Special Correspondent for NBC News.

He has an estimated net worth of around $70 million and he receives annual salary of $8 million.
