Musician Joe Nichols and wife Heather Singleton, married since 2007, share their difficult story about having children

Musician Joe Nichols and wife Heather Singleton, who have been married since 2007, are proud parents of two adorable daughters. But it was not easy for these two to welcome their daughters into the world. The couple went through hell in order to have children and they shared their heartbreaking story of the struggle and hardship they had to go through

The couple has been married since 2007 and they are still very much in love. The singer started dating his then-girlfriend when they were 19. The loving pair has undergone several ups and downs in their 20 year long relationship. They were happily married and everything was well until Heather suffered her first miscarriage.

The wife of the American country music artist struggled and suffered through numerous miscarriages, the story of which the couple kept secret for a long time.

Finally, after years of keeping mum, the proud mum (no pun intended) revealed the heartrending experience of their struggle and journey to parenthood.

She wrote on her blog: “I’ve always wanted to be a mother.” The country music sensation’s wife wrote in her blog titled ‘More Than a Nichols Worth’: “Growing up, out of all of my friends I was the one that didn’t care about college or a high powered job. All I ever wanted was children.”

The mother of two continued: “After my first miscarriage, the doctors informed me 1 in 4 women would suffer a miscarriage and that if I got pregnant again we had every reason to believe all would be fine. After miscarriage number 2, I knew something had to be wrong.”

A third miscarriage followed. Soon after, she found out that she was pregnant again after being put on clomid and undergoing IVF. The couple became hopeless and thought that they would never be able to become parents in their lives. But they kept on trying and decided to change their doctor and this decision indeed helped them.

The couple discovered that Heather had “an autoimmune response to pregnancy”, which led her body to fight off a pregnancy like it would to a cold or a virus. She lost her fourth child as well.

But despite every obstacles, the Man with a Memory hit maker and his lovely wife didn’t lose hope. Finally, after two years of trying, Mrs. Nichols became pregnant for the fifth time. But the child didn’t make it, an experience of which Heather openly mentioned in her blog.

“At this 9 week appointment, we saw a beautiful baby but no heartbeat. My husband and I were devastated. This was my lowest point I think because I was doing everything I could do. My stomach was black and blue from the heparin shots, my arms were sore from the constant bloodwork, but my heart was in the worse shape of all. If this news wasn’t bad enough I had to do a D&C because the pregnancy like my first one had gone too far to pass naturally. After the surgery I felt robbed,” she wrote.

“My baby was gone along with my spirit. After each baby I would allow myself one day to cry but this 5th one I couldn’t stick to that. From my first miscarriage an ever growing feeling of shame had developed in me and by this time it had taken over my thoughts. I would constantly think about the growing reality in my mind that I would never have the one thing I wanted in life the most.”

But this lady with a heart of gold had her husband by her side. He never left her alone during those harsh situations. After innumerable treatments and sessions with doctors, the couple again saw a ray of hope. They were expecting for the sixth time and this time, despite all the fears, their child made it full term and their first daughter Dylan River Nichols was born on April 17, 2012.

The couple had a second daughter Georgia Nichols in 2014 and Nichols has another daughter named Ashelyn from his previous relationship. They consider their two daughters to be gifts of God and their key to happiness.

The singer, who has given several hit songs, is active on Twitter and Instagram. His net worth remains undisclosed.
