Mikko Koivu helps the Minnesota Wild to a 5-4 win against the Dallas Stars.

Minnesota Wild beat the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Friday night to stay alive in their first-round series.

"We were up, they were up, and everything happened so quickly," Minnesota Wild center Mikael Granlund said. "I'm just really glad we got the win and we get to go back home next game,"  he added

The Finish pro, Mikko Koivu managed to score 4:55 in the extra time to guarantee their win. He has shown why he was the captain of the 2011 gold medal winning Finish Hockey team in  2011 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships. He saved the entire team from elimination proving his worth as a Minnesota loyalist. With this overtime win, Koivu has scored his first career playoff overtime winner.

Minnesota Wild was down 3-1 down in their series and this game was indeed a deciding one had they lost. With Mikko Koivu’s last minute point, they were able to get back from dead. If they manage to win again and make it up to Game 7, who knows, they might even win this series.

John Torchetti, the interim coach for the Wild were impressed by the team

"We felt confident, we thought we were going to come out and play a good game. Games 2, 3, 4 and 5, I've liked, Now we got to go home and try and find a way to get back to Dallas."

Dallas were already 2 goals behind within the first five minutes of the game. Although the game was nothing special technically and nowhere one-sided, it was a great result for Mikko and his team. Dallas had had 85 total shots while Minnesota had 45.

However, it was not only Koivu who contributed to the victory, the goalie Dubnyk stopped 37 shots.
