Meet Beau Bridges: film star, father and an complete family man

He’s the son of the famed acting couple Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges, older brother to actor Jeff Bridges and now, at the age of 72, plays the major role of Tom in the CBS hit series The Millers. Yes, he’s none other than the famous Beau Bridges.

Beau Bridges is a three-time Emmy, two-time Golden Globe and one-time Grammy Award winner. This is apart from the countless nominations the actor has received throughout his acting career. Also a two-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee, the famed actor also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame-which he got on the April of 2003. Bridges was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 7, 2003.

Born in Los Angeles, California to acting parents, he was exposed to the acting life at a very early age. Nicknamed Beau, after Ashley Wilkes' son in the movie Gone with the Wind, his real name is actually Lloyd Vernet Bridges III. Yes, no one really calls him by that name. His younger brother is actor Jeff Bridges (as mentioned earlier) and he also has a younger sister. According to Beau, he has shared a close relationship with Jeff as he often raised him as his father was out on work. Much like a father-brother! Cool!

Although born in a family obsessed with movies, he grew up wanting to become a basketball star. He played in his freshman year at the University of California, Los Angeles only to be enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve in 1959. Bridges, alongside his brother Jeff and late father Lloyd were among the six veterans honored with the Lone Sailor Award, an award that recognizes “Navy, Marine and Coast Guard veterans who have distinguished themselves in their civilian careers”.

Well, any hopes of becoming a basketball player quickly died and well, as they say, rest is history. With 14 Emmy Award nominations, he is the only actor to win the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Miniseries Or Special twice. Guess acting really was in his genes. After a small role in the iconic film Force of Evil, and The Red Pony, he appeared on his father's CBS anthology series, The Lloyd Bridges Show. His other major TV appearances includes National Velvet, The Fugitive, Bonanza, Mr. Novak, and The Loner. Throughout the 90’s, the actor found roles in both Television and films. His major films include The Other Side of the Mountain, Greased Lightning , Norma Rae, Heart Like a Wheel , and The Hotel New Hampshire.

Although most actors consider retiring, the actor, who stands at a height of 5’10” (according to IMDb), Bridges continued his acting career and went on to make many more Hollywood appearances. His role in the movie "Smile" was critically acclaimed for sprouting personal beliefs and in November 2005, guest-starred as Carl Hickey in the hit NBC comedy My Name Is Earl. After fans loved his performance, Bridges became a member of the recurring cast and received a 2007 Emmy Award nomination. On February, he won another Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for the recording of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. But more than that, he received an Emmy Award nomination after a single appearance in the 100th episode of Desperate Housewives  On January 3, 2012, he was a part of the Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying which turned out to be a great success.

On October 3, 2013, he became a main character on the hit CBS television show, The Millers. Bridges plays Tom, the father of two children, Nathan Miller (Will Arnett), and daughter, Debbie, who is played by the hot Jayma Mays. After joining the series in March, 2013, the series has gone on to great reviews.

Not only a great actor who has reached the top of his height, he is also a very loving husband and father. He has been married twice with his first marriage to Julie Landfield back in 1964. He has two children, namely Casey and actor Jordan, from this marriage. Although separated, Jordan says that his father was very helpful and a role-model while he grew up. Bridges married Wendy Treece the same year he got divorced in 1984 and have three children: Dylan, Emily and Ezekiel Jeffrey "Zeke" Bridges. He seems a loving father to them as well, as Emily is constantly seen posting pictures of him on her Instagram. As for Beau, it seems he’s in love with his other show Masters of Sex- with most of his tweets on Twitter based on this series. As for those who haven’t heard of this series before, watch it once. You’re sure to get glued.
