Maria Shriver and ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrate their son's birthday with their children

Journalist Maria Shriver seems to have forgotten her ex-husband’s treachery as she celebrated her son Patrick Schwarzenegger celebrated his 22nd birthday with her estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger last week.

The mother of four seemed over the moon as she posted a picture of Patrick as a young boy with a loving birthday message on Twitter while the birthday boy was out in a gym with his Terminator star father Schwarzenegger. She wrote, “Smile! It's your 22nd birthday and you are the best! Son I love you soooo much @pschwarzenegger”

The former First Lady of California, who joined her former hubby on his birthday last July, tried to forget all the pain she underwent a few years ago when his alleged affair with their household staff was revealed. The extramarital fling resulted the former governor of California having a son with his mistress and a divorce with his wife of 25 years.

Schwarzenegger Jr. seemed to be in a perfectly jolly mood as he posted a few pictures of his birthday bash on Instagram that he celebrated with his mother and father, along with his other family members. The aspiring actor hit the gym early morning with his body builder dad.

He Instagrammed a photo of him and his father working out in the gym with a caption: "My dad woke my a** up at 7 am this morning for a birthday workout."

While Schwarzenegger took his son to the work-out session, his ex-wife decided to show her love and affection in her own way. She did just the opposite. She prepared his favorite banana pie and a huge birthday cake for him. The American journalist, activist, author of six best-selling books showered him with love in a motherly fashion. His father might have taken him for a workout but his mother took care of what he wanted to eat when he came home hungry and tired. A mother sure does know what her children want.

The happy son then posted a picture of him kissing his dear mother on her cheek on Instagram with a caption: "M-Dog did the opposite and had 22 banana pies for my bday waiting for me when I got back from my workout."

Maria completed the big day with the cake with a smiling picture of the handsome hunk’s face it. The actor, who is headed in footsteps of his father, is all set to appear in Ryan Murphy’s new horror series, Scream Queens, while Schwarzenegger is about to replace Donald Trump on The Apprentice.

Despite the past issues and misunderstanding, both Shriver and Schwarzenegger were present with their all four children: Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher in the birthday party. They posed and smiled for pictures. And for the first time in a long time, the couple looked genuinely happy together, all thanks to their son.

The couple who met each other in 1977, married on April 26, 1986. But, they announced their separation in 2011, breaking off their 25 years of marriage. Shriver left Schwarzenegger’s house as she discovered a nasty secret about him. He allegedly hooked up with an employee of their house, Mildred Patricia Baena and fathered a son for more than fourteen years. The affair took place before his election as Governor of California. Shriver was heartbroken and immediately left him and filed for divorce and legal custody of their children.

After the incident, the actor and former Mr. Universe fell from grace and the height of popularity that he had dropped abruptly.

Emmy award winning Shriver is the niece of the late American President, John F. Kennedy and works as a special correspondent for NBC and has penned a number of best-selling books. She has an estimated net worth of $100 million.
