Lisa Kerney's husband Patrick Kerney is a former American football player who served as a defensive end in the National Football League for eleven seasons.  He was a starter in football when he was studying at Taft School in Pennsylvania and a two-year letterman in wrestling.

Patrick Kerney received an athletic scholarship to go to the University of Virginia and played for the college football team there. Later in the 1999 NFL Draft, he was drafted as the 13th overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons and signed a five-year contract.

Later in 2007, cancelling the last two years of his contract with the Atlanta Falcons, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Then, Patrick Kerney signed a six-year contract with the Seahawks and was voted as a starter in the ProBowl and lead NFL in sacks with 14.5.

Patrick Kerney is a very experienced player who has played eleven seasons with 401 tackles, 82.5 sack, 20 fumbles and 3 interceptions. Patrick has recorded 12 sacks in 2001 which led him to the next contract extension. He finished the 2002 season with 10.5 sacks while playing left defensive end in a 3-4 defense. In 2004, he returned to 4-3 defense and respond with his best season up until that time. He recorded career-highs in tackles 66, sacks 13 and passes defense 9 while playing Pro Bowl.

With the Seattle Seahawks, he was voted as a starter in the Pro Bowl and led the NFC in sacks with 14.5. He also had a career-high 5 forced fumbles and recorded 62 tackles.  Patrick due to shoulder surgery missed the Pro Bowl; and later in 2010, he announced his retirement at the age of 33.
