Learn more about Jordyn Wieber and her career in Gymnastics

After having a glorious time as a gymnast and a part of Fierce Five, Olympic gold medalist Jordyn Wieber is still a part of the gymnastics world and that too as a team manager. Before her journey as a team manager, Wieber competed in front of a world audience and was a world champion.

What still makes Wieber a champion is the fact that despite her retirement from Elite Gymnastics, Wieber still remains close to her passion and is currently involved in it as a team manager. Now that’s an exemplary sportswoman who’s true to her love for gymnastics!

Belonging to a family of athletes, Wieber first came into the spotlights as a junior at the 2009 American Cup with a huge all-around victory score of 60.2. Her first international competition was in 2010 at the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, winning the all-around as a representative for the USA. Her career as a champion stay put as she remained victorious throughout 2011 as an American Cup all-around champion, Visa Championships all-around, floor exercise and uneven bars gold medalist, balance beam bronze medalist, and World Championships all-around and team gold medalist, balance beam bronze medalist.

2012 was an even better year for Jordyn Wieber, winning a gold medal for the team and the seventh place as a silver medalist in the floor exercise. She was the bronze medalist of the balance beam and grabbed the fourth place for the uneven bars. The same year Wieber succeeded as the Visa Championships all-around gold medalist, floor exercise silver medalist, balance beam and uneven bars fifth place and the American Cup all-around champion.

Although Wieber had an undeniable love for gymnastics, it wasn’t her only plan. In a piece for The Players Tribune in 2015, Jordyn explained her decision to leave the elite world of gymnastics behind and continuing forward on her new journey as UCLA student and team manager for the Bruins. She shares how grateful she is for growing up as one of the top athletes in the country and all that gymnastics has provided for her. She makes it a point for people to know that her 2012 Olympics journey has left her “completely fulfilled”.

Apart from being the Bruins team manager and a UCLA student, Jordyn Wieber serves as a volunteer at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center, the Giving Tree project at her church, and at local 5k races.
