Kristen Cherie Mann is a professional American basketball player in the WNBA who played for ‘Minnesota Lynx’, ‘Atlanta Dream’, ‘Indiana Fever’ and ‘Washington Mystics’.

Synopsis

Kristen Mann was brought up in California, USA. She has 3 siblings who are all younger than her. Apart from basketball, she plays softball and has played for her high school softball team. She graduated in 2005 and played basketball for 4 years at her college. During 2003 summer, she helped her team bring home the Gold Medal in FIBA World Championship in Croatia. And nonetheless, she is also a songwriter and a singer.

Early Life and Personal Life

Kristen was born in Lakewood, California; on August 10th, 1983 to Kathy Deeds and Gene Mann. She has two brothers named Mack and Guy; and a sister named Payton, who are all younger than her. Despite being a Basketball player, she has a great interest in playing guitar and enjoys playing it in her spare time. She is also a songwriter and a singer and has recorded numerous songs alongside Gabriel Mann who was a friend of hers at college. As per her height, she stands 6 feet and 2 inches tall weighing 180 lb (82kg).

High School

She went to Foothill High School and played both basketball and softball over there. Kristen played 1st and 3rd base for her high school softball team and she helped them win the state and national titles in 2000. As per basketball, she holds 25 school records and she was a Nike All-American.

College

Kristen went to University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB); alongside Lindsay Taylor, who is a WNBA player as well. She graduated in 2005 with a degree in Women’s Studies. Kristen played basketball for 4 years when she was at UCSB and also played softball during 2003 season. Over her college years, she managed to win several awards like ‘All-Big West in 2002, 2003 and 2004’; 2001-2002 Big-West Freshman of the Year’, ‘Kristen Lohman Trophy’ and much more. In the summer of 2003, she was an associate of Team USA and she helped them win the Gold in FIBA World Championship for Young Women in Croatia.

Career

Her career turned on when she was selected as an overall 11 in 2005 WNBA Draft. During her rookie season, she managed to score 3.0 points and 7.7 minutes per game. In 2006, Kristen was selected for starting line-up and scored 7.4 points, 2.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. In 2007, she started with ‘Minnesota Lynx’ scoring 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in her 34 games. 

In 2008, she got into Atlanta Dream in their expansion draft. Later that year, Mann got traded in exchange for Alison Bales to ‘Indiana Fever’. Over there, she played 5 games and it wasn’t too long until she was signed in by ‘Washington Mystics’. And the reasons why she was selected by Mystics would be her capability to stretch a defense with 3 point shot, a competitive work ethic, and a high basketball IQ.

International Career

As per her overseas career, Kristen played for Zaragoza Mann Filter in 2005-2006 season in Spain, Mersin Büyük?ehir Belediye in 2006-2007 season in Turkey, 2007-2008 season for Tarbes GB in France, 2009-2010 season for SK C?sis in Latvia, 2010-2011 in France for Flammes Carolos Basket Ardennes, 2011-2013 for Lattes Montpellier in France, 2013-1014 for Toulouse Metropole Basket in France, 2014-2015 for CAB Madeira in Portugal and 2015-2016 for TTT Riga in Latvia.

Music Career

Apart from her basketball career, Kristen is also a singer and a songwriter. Till the date, she has written and recorded numerous songs alongside Gabriel Mann, who is her college friend, under the band named 'Sapphica'.
