Journalist Rece Davis changing his name to Reese Davis for the candy, wife and family disapprove

Here comes the CANDY-MAN!!!!!!

ESPN’s Rece Davis is changing his name from Rece to Reese. Now don’t get confused. We don’t know for sure if he is a die-hard fan of the Oscar winning actress Reese Witherspoon, but he sure is a lover of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, which is why he is changing his name.

A sports television journalist for ESPN, Davis works as an anchor on SportsCenter. He has been newly appointed as the host of the new football road show College GameDay. The show has been sponsored by none other than Reese’s. So, it looks like the popular sports journalist is altering his name as a tribute to his favorite milk chocolate cup confection.

Everybody has their own way of marking a new job, but Davis, who became the new host of ESPN’s College Gameday, has decided to celebrate his appointment in a pretty different way. He marked the glorious day by changing his name, or should we say just the spelling. Now that he has done it, everybody is supposed to call him Reese Davis.

Davis’ decision to change his name was made after ESPN partnered with his favorite Reese’s and made it the official candy sponsor of College Gameday. Along with that, the Reese’s collaborated with ESPN and Davis to make a promotional advertisement of their product, College Gameday and of course Davis’ new name. In the video, one can see Davis holding up a package of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, looking up at the camera, tearing up the wrapper, holding a cup and taking a huge bite and getting lost in the wonderful sugary taste of the cup.

Explaining his new name the popular host said: “Reese with an “s” can be a little more out there. I’ll let my hair down a little bit more. A little more adventurous. And sweeter. That makes sense. I’ll definitely be sweeter.”

Davis went on: “I am. We’re going with Reese. I do have a great affinity for sweets, desserts, and probably from the time when I was a little kid and saw those old commercials with the stuffy English dude gets peanut butter on his chocolate, and the other guy gets chocolate on his peanut butter, I became fixated on Reese’s.

“One thing I thought when I was presented with this opportunity is why can’t they change their name to my spelling, but it turns out they’re a little bit bigger deal than me,” he said jokinly.

The advert is becoming quite popular and it took Twitter by storm.

Though the sports journalist seems ecstatic and over the moon about his decision, somebody is not so happy about it. Guess who? His wife and family…

His wife Leigh Davis disapproves her husband’s decision of changing his name. She thinks that his idea of turning Reese from Rece seemed childish. She believes that Rece Davis is a household name, so there is no need of changing the name that made him famous today.

Davis might be glad with his recent decision, but if his wife is not happy with his decision then Reese, who lost his father last year will be having a problem convincing his beloved wife and his family.
