Isao Takahata The Co-Founder Of Studio Ghibli Was an Admirable Poet Of Japanese Animation

Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata was an admirable poet of Japanese animation. He died on April 5, 2018, but he will be remembered as a true leader in Japanese animation film industry.

 

In 1988, nearly three years after they founded Studio Ghibli Japanese celebrated late-Isao Takahata & his close friend Hayao Miyazaki oddest double bills animation history, Grave of the Flies and My Neighbor Totoro.

Even in the earlier career the two creative friends, Miyazaki a fantasist took viewers beyond their imagination and Takahata being a poet explore beyond the assumption of human moments.

Although Takahata who died on April 5, 2018, at the age of 82 due to lungs cancer was a versatile director whose work ranged from Only Yesterday to Pom Poko including Academy Awarded nominated film The Tale of the Princess Kaguya but he was popularly known for Grave of the Flies.

Grave of the Fireflies is Japanese animated war drama film based on the semi-autobiographical short story of the same title which was directed and Screen played by Takahata. The two orphans during the 2nd world war story pushed human moments beyond their expectation. The film was hugely praised by the critics the way he used his gifted language to express the war story.  

Though the production company name was derived from a hot North African wind that blows into Italy city, Takahata with his friend decided to blow fresh air in the Japanese animation film industry and they did it.
