Challenging Android? Huawei is designing its own Smartphone OS

Huawei Technologies is the largest Chinese company manufacturing telecommunication Service Company, overtaking Ericsson in 2012 that sells smartphones in west Asia. The name ‘Huawei’ was named as it refers to flower in simplified Chinese. This company was founded in 1987 and now it is overtaking market all over Asia and the United States. Huawei has now started developing its own operating systems trying to manage dominance of Android over phone manufacturing world.

Huawei’s New Operating System

The concept of designing company’s own OS is not the new concept at all. The companies like Blackberry, Samsung have its own OS. Not to overlook, Apple has its IOS which is quite a premium one. But, what Huawei has planned surely shows how much this company is affected by the use of Android smartphone [stock version] than layered one [surfaced UI].

Huawei does have secondary or layered OS currently labelled on every smartphone it launched. Having two OS in a single device makes it slower due to excessive background processes and could be annoying. Also, this skin is close to IOS skin, kind of compact skin. Thus, the company built thought of developing its own OS rather than using Android as its framework.

Why is Android OS more preferred?

Android OS, initially authored by Android Inc. was bought by Google in 2005. Android OS upgraded its versions simultaneously as it upgraded its features. Android Operating System is now the framework of more than 75% of total phones around the world.

Other than Android, Windows and IOS are competing OS for phones. But, these OS are not provided as open source like Google did for Android. Also, android used an easy-understandable version of codes, so most of developers and users choose Android Smartphone.

Android OS has been dominating more than third half of the world with more than 500,000 smartphones every month. This is because it is easy to use, no further access needed, rooting is easier, along with all application support. In contrary, Windows and IOS are not compatible with all features as of Android.

Google formed a contract with Samsung, leading smartphone manufacturer and most used brand by users. Thus, most people follow Android as leading OS than others. Samsung does have its own OS naming Tizen, which it first unveiled with Samsung Galaxy Z. Although it is Linux based OS, Samsung relies on Android for its primary flagship phones.

Pros and Cons of Huawei’s new Smartphone OS

Huawei is yet to mention how the smartphone OS looks like and what are the features included in the package. Not features, but you can guess what tweaks would be available to users. All the ‘cons of EMUI’ regarding skin, speed and performance would be enhanced and the system update might be available timely.

But, Huawei must be able to minimize cons if it is really start developing its OS. The company must assure whether the Android apps will run or not. Along with that, there must be assurance of apps to be available to users.

Huawei’s OS now is in developing phase. So, the company is focused on developing current projects and also, manufacturing Google Nexus 6.
