In 1993 Edward was featured in  Aerosmith's music video for "Livin' on the Edge". He also appeared in leading role in the 1994 Horror film Brainscan.

In 1998 Edward appeared in  American History X alongside Edward Norton, and for the first time, he also starred in the comedy role in Pecker, directed by John Waters. During the interview about his comedy role, Edward stated that:

"It's true most of the characters that I've played so far are kind of like suicidal. Really dark roles, which I like. But I wanted to do something different and John gave me a chance to do that."
