Eminem Wins the Copyright Battle against The New Zealand National Party Election Ad 2014

Eminem’s Grammy-winning song ‘Loose Yourself’ which was used in the movie ‘8 Mile’ was somewhat stolen by New Zealand’s National Party on one of their ads. The track on their ad sounded almost similar to the Eminem’s song.

The song was used without permission on an election ad in the year 2014. However, the video is now deleted from the National Party’s youtube channel.

More about the case

New Zealand’s High Court finalized their decision earlier, last Wednesday (October 25) ordering to pay $415,000 to Eminem’s publishing company.

Moreover, this is not the first time the rapper launched legal action over copyright. Back in the year 2004, he sued Tech-giant Apple, for using one of his songs in their television ad without his permission.
