Dana Bash - Biography - CNN's American Journalist, Political Correspondent and Anchor

Dana Bash is an American Journalist and an anchorwoman for CNN. In recent days, she is working as the network’s chief political correspondent and an occasional anchorwoman. Prior to this work, she used to be Capitol Hill and White House Correspondent for the network. 

Dana Bash Early Life and Education

Dana Bash was born on June 15th, 1971; in Montvale, New Jersey, United States of America. She belongs to a Jewish family and both of her parents are engaged in Journalism. During Bash’s young age, her mother described her quiet and easier to deal with kind of kid. As per her education, she went to ‘Pascack Hill High School’ in her own hometown, Montvale; and completed her bachelor’s from ‘George Washington University’ in Political Communications.

During her times at High School and College, she was active both in academics as well as in sports. Her energetic nature made her the head of School’s Cheerleaders and she was also one who participated in Long Jumps and Short Races, where she managed to win medals for her school. 

Dana Bash Career

After college, Dana Bash worked with CNN as an Assistant Journalist with her name as Dana Schwartz and was later promoted to an editor and a reporter. Some of her works at CNN include ‘Late Edition’, ‘Inside Politics’ and ‘Evans and Novak’.

In recent days, she is a co-anchor of Capitol Hill Beat alongside Jessica Yellin and John King at CNN. Prior to this work, she was a White House correspondent for CNN. In 2008, she got promoted to CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent and that gave her a broader spectrum to cover politics affiliated stories.

Nevertheless, Dana has also put her work as a library assistant and a producer at the Washington D.C Bureau. Some of her major works consist of Arrest of Saddam Hussein, Reports on the Hurricane Katrina (one of the 5 deadliest hurricanes in the history of United States), CIA intelligence Leak Examination Story, The Accusation Story of Bill Clinton among others and more. In 2016, she got chosen for co-host of the Democratic Party Debates for presidential election alongside Anderson Cooper and Juan Carlos

Dana Bash Personal Life

Dana Bash is weighed around 59kg and stand 5 feet and 6 inches tall. She looks white decent with blonde hair and blue eyes. Dana Bash is married to U.S. Military Insider Jeremy Bash in 1998. However, they had to file a divorce in 2007 because of some personal matter.

 On May 25th, 2008, she got married for a second time to her fellow CNN correspondent John King with whom she had a son Jonah Frank King. As like her first marriage, their second marriage also didn't last for long. Well, in March 2012, they had to end their marriage and separate their ways.

John was so depressed about the divorce that he even refused to come to work for a whole week. But he opened up with the media and dealt with the situation. As per her siblings, Dana has a brother named David who works as a video producer in New York City. 

Dana Bash Awards and Honors

Dana Bash is honored with many awards like News & Documentary Emmy Award for exceptional live reporting of a recent news story. 

Moreover, she was honored with long Form and Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for reporting to Congress from the National Press Foundation. Furthermore, Dana was also honored by Elle Magazine at the Italian Embassy in the United States during its annual Women in Washington Power List in March 2014.
