Connor Paolo's new movie, Friend Request hits screens.

First 2015’s Unfriended, now this — social media-themed horror is apparently a thing. Here popular student Laura (Alycia Debnam-Carey) accepts a friend request from the mysterious Marina (Liesl Ahlers), a loner she barely knows. It turns out to be a bad idea — her admirer moves from obsessive cyber stalker to e-poltergeist as Laura’s friends begin to disappear, and not just from her Facebook feed.

The above is the review by Empire.

Connor Paolo's German techno-thriller film Friend Request hit UK theater on 20th April and was praised for its fresh content. We admit there aren't many movies with a genre like this and Simon Verhoeven has done a marvelous job directing it.

The film has received positive rating mostly critics appraising the movie for its social media theme which not only is thrilling but also considers various ongoing online issues around us (not the fictional demonic ones).

IMDB has given this movie 6.4 out of 10 (Now it is 6.3). Although the critics were critical in rating the film, it was praised by the audiences.

The plot is simple. Laura is a Facebook addict with over 800 friends. One day she accepts a request from a girl Marina who she barely knows. They become acquainted. One day Laura unfriends her, this cause drifts among the two. Then Laura posts pictures on the Facebook. Marina gets jealous; she commits live suicide. Then her spirits haunt her through Facebook. Simple, right?

Connor’s performance as Kobe was also praised along with fellow co-stars Alycia Debnam-Carey and William Moseley, enough so that people will be scared at night for facebook friend request notification.

This Gossip Girls' actor has yet proven us that he is able to act in diverse genres.

The movie is expected to be released globally later this year. Here's a trailer for the movie:
