Australian actor Christopher Egan is best known as Nick Smith in the television soap opera, Home and Away and Alex Lannon in the apocalyptic TV series, Dominion.
The 31-year-old actor had appeared in a number of commercials as a model before he pursued his childhood dream to be an actor. He had always been very passionate about acting. He received the golden opportunity to perform at Sydney’s Zenith Theatre as an actor in the Glen street productions of Les Miserables and West Side Story.
At the age of 16, Egan made his debut in one of the Australian successful television shows Home and Away as Nick Smith in 2000. He portrayed the popular character of Nick Smith for over 3 years. His brilliant performance earned him a nomination for a Logie Award in the category of Most Popular New Talent. After he left the show in 2003, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career in Hollywood.
After struggling for few years, he finally landed to feature in a number of movies and TV shows. He starred in the American miniseries Empire in a short role of Agrippa in 2005. He also appeared playing the role of Zach in the television movie The Prince before landing a recurring role on the drama series Everwood.
Soon after, he made his big-screen debut in the movie adaptation of Christopher Paolini’s widely acclaimed novel Eragon in 2006. Later in 2007, he appeared in two movies although with brief roles. He played the character of Dioneo in Virgin Territory and Mikey in Resident Evil: Extinction.
Though Egan appeared in several TV shows including Everwood, Vanished, and Kings, he achieved a breakthrough from Dominion. He played the character of a young rebellious soldier, Alex Lannon who discovers he is the unlikely savior of humanity. He also received critical acclaim for his portrayal in the science fiction supernatural action drama, Dominion.
Some of his other notable works include movies as Alpha Male, Pretty Handsome, Poe, Gothica, Crush and Letters to Juliet.
During the filming of Letters to Juliet, it was rumored that Egan had started dating his co-actor Amanda Seyfried. There were quite a few times the two were spotted in public holding each other hands. However, the alleged couple did not confront their love affair.
In an interview with People Magazine, Egan clarified that Amanda Seyfried is not his girlfriend.
However, it is quite known that he is not gay because he dated stars like Eliska Sursova and Aria Crescendo.
He had briefly dated actress Eliska Sursova for about ten months following his move to Los Angeles in 2004. Later in 2006, Egan began dating Aria Crescendo.
It was rumored that Aria would be his future wife and they would get married soon, but after four years long love affair, they decided to split.
