Chinese authorities shut down Victoria’s Secret 2017 After party in Shanghai

The much acclaimed and anticipated annual Victoria’s Secret (VS) 2017 Fashion show which concluded on Sunday night in Shanghai’s Mercedes Benz Arena amidst glitz and glamor continued to roll on much later on the night after the show had ended celebrating another successful year.

The after party attended by the likes of Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and Taylor Hill, ran into some trouble with Chinese authorities with police shutting down the venue before midnight. Reportedly, the after party which began at 9 pm, with DJ Victor Anime about to take center stage, police showed up and cut the music off at 11:50 pm.

As the night wore on a number of uniformed police began to show up and breaking up the party, a woman controlling the crowd announced “They want us to finish. We are sorry, we tried.” The party was officially over as soon as it had begun.

This year’s show ran into some trouble earlier mostly with visa issues with multiple models including Gigi Hadid and Singer Katy Perry withdrawing from the show citing various reasons. Even before the event started, VS staffs that were in Shanghai were monitored by the Chinese authorities during the planning phase.

Even with theses much-publicized interferences from Chinese authorities, this year’s VS Fashion saw supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Jasmine Tooks and Elsa Hosk on the runway. The prestigious $ 2 million dollar fantasy bra was worn by Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro. This was a significant step in terms of showing equality in the fashion industry as this marked the fourth time a black model had worn the Fantasy Bra in the VS history.
