David Muir was born on November 8, 1973, to Ronald Muir and Patt Mills in Syracuse, New York while he grew up in the hills of Onondaga. In an environment with all kids around him (that includes one older sibling and nephew and nieces) David was pampered yet disciplined as a child. David is fluent in Arabic language and graduated from Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School and then pursued his undergraduate at Ithaca College. But he also got a chance to attend Georgetown University and the University of Salamanca in Spain. Also one of the reasons he is fluent in Spanish as well.

Professional Growth

After graduating from college in 1995 he worked as an anchor and reporter for the WTVH television in Syracuse. His reporting has been different and one of a kind and since then he has started earning honors like Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Local Newscast. Some of his reporting during those times include the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and many other cases from the Middle East. But soon in 2000 Muir moved to Boston to become the anchor cum reporter for WCVB television. This was one of the biggest moves of his life as it earned him the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for his reporting and for his news on the 9/11 attacks. He was also felicitated with National Headliner Award.

ABC News and Popularity

With such news reported and anchored David Muir got worldwide acclaim and so in August 2003, he joined ABC News as the anchor of the World News Now. He got a speedy success as soon in 2007 again, he got another show World News Saturday. Not just that he was already co-anchoring the news magazine Primetime. He was simply loved by the audience for his sense of reporting and the way he anchors. So much that he got an individual name for his show, which was called World News with David Muir.If data are to be looked after his association with ABC channel there has been an immense rise in the rating and it is all because of his programs.

In 2014 he got the position of being the managing editor and anchor of ABC World News succeeding Diane Sawyer. With that happening the recent polls in 2015 just showed his hard work pay off because World News Tonight with David Muir became the most watched newscast that replaces NBC’s Nightly News for the first time ever.

Personal Life

Muir is a family guy in real life and loves being around them. Like a typical New Yorker, he is very much in love with the subways and takes them to work every day. He loves watching television series and Mad Men is his favorite as that associates him with his childhood in Syracuse.David Muir is a rebel, and a glimpse of it was seen in one of the speeches of his in Ithaca College. He urged all the graduates to use their voice and get heard as that is their most powerful weapon. He also has several honorary degrees from Northeastern University and Ithaca College.

Gay controversy

There has been several speculations and rumours around this man who was listed as the “Sexiest Men Alive” in 2014. He does not have any romantic angle in his life. This very reason has made him an easy target to the rumours because the paparazzi has not been able to spot the love of his life. Hence he is always termed as gay because of this, although David does not shun any of it and is silent most of the time not letting his work or career get affected as such.
