Annet Mahendru on 'The Americans' and her character Nina.

“I’m so thrilled to have played her so long,” she added. Given the dangerous world Nina inhabits, “It’s just a miracle that she even lived this long. We can be grateful for that”, says Annet Mahendru on her role as Nina in the acclaimed series The Americans.

Annet has shown some great performance as Nina and has been listed by several people as their favorite character. We grow to love her character and her complex relationship with Stan. She may be the supporting actress but the way her character is, one cannot deny that her role is pivotal in many ways.

Nina is shown to be an antagonist in the series at first. She is deceitful and evil. But one cannot deny that despite being a bad guy, she is an awesome bad guy. She is dedicated to her job and deadly. Nina would do anything to get the job done, kill them or sleep with them.

Now that Nina is shot to death, Annet describes this to be one of the most intense moment in the set.

“Although Nina spent her last months as a prisoner, she got to “experience freedom at least in her dream,” said Annet pointing out the scene where Nina walks out with Anton.

Ironically, the last scene shot for Nina was also where it first started for her.

“…we were at the same location where everything started for Nina, It came full circle. In that moment, we were saying goodbye, Noah and I, and Stan and Nina.”

We agree that it was a well-deserved farewell to a phenomenal actor and a marvelous character but in an interview, Annet stated how she could not accept the decision at first.

“‘Are you kidding me? No this is horrible, I don’t want to’ I was really angry with them and pissed off. It was a lot of work, but I think it was the greatest work I’ve ever had to do at the same time.”

For her marvelous depiction of Nina in the series Annet was awarded  Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
