American Idol is back and is set to premiere on Sunday, March 11, and the host Ryan Seacrest announced the news during Live! with Kelly & Ryan on Monday.

One of the upcoming reboots, Katy Perry also tweeted the news along with a photo of herself with Seacrest, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

In one of the interviews with Good Morning America last month, Katy Perry spoke up about working together on American Idol. She also talked about the procedure to find out the new talent during the audition process. She said:

There are still stars and diamonds in the rough, and I think the great American dream — we can revive that in a way and show people that if they have the talent, if they work really hard…maybe we can give them a little platform to just shine.”

Echoed Richie explained that it has always been amazing to see the confidence of the new generation.
 
The auditions kicked off in August in Portland, Oregon, and the show traveled to 23 cities. This year, the fans got the opportunity to audition online through the social media using the #TheNextIdol hashtag.
