Writer Isabel Allende and her husband, Willie Gordon got divorced.

 Writer Isabel Allende recently got divorced from her husband, Willie Gordon in 2015.

In an interview with LA Revista, Allende says, “As the news got out already, I have to confirm that Willie and I are separated. It is very sad because we had been together for 27 years and we have shared the best and the worst of our lives. This has been a well thought decision but we remain best friends, taking turns to care for the dogs, Olivia and Dulce, and helping each other.”

This was the interview she gave to promote her latest novel, “The Japanese Lover” published in Spanish on May 28 and in English published on 3rd November.

 Allende and Willie had first met each other in 1988 while Allende was visiting California. The couple tied the knot the same year and lived happily together in San Rafael. They left the impression of a happy couple. But eventually they got separated recently in the year 2015.

Allende was previously married to Miguel Frias in 1962 and they got separated in the year 1987. With Frias, Allende had two children, son Nicolas and daughter Paula. Unfortunately, Allende had to suffer from a great loss that was the death of both her son and daughter due to drug overdose.

Allende is a Chilean-American writer. She was born on 2nd August, 1942. Allende is popular for her novels like The House of the Spirits (La casa de Los espíritus, 1982) and City of the Beasts (La ciudad de las bestias, 2002). Her novels have been commercially successful.

Allende has been called "the world's most widely read Spanish-language author". As Allende is a magnificent writer with attractive writing techniques her novels are translated from Spanish into over 36 other languages in the world and sold more than 56 million copies.

Allende’s novels are often based on real life experiences and pay homage to the lives of women.

She writes both fictional and non-fictional books. She has written a memoir, Paula (1994) dedicated to her daughter, Paula.

Some of her fictional books include Of Love and Shadows, Eva Luna, Daughter of Fortune, Maya’s Notebook, etc. And her non-fictional books are Paula, Aphrodite, My Invented Countries, The Sum Of Our Days.

 A Latino Leaders magazine recently entitled Allende as “literary legend”. Allende has won and been honored with so many awards around the world. She was awarded the 2014 Presidental Medal of Freedom by U.S President Barack Obama. She has visited different American colleges for literary lecture and classes. And she is fluent in English as a second language.

The net worth of writer Allende is estimated at $100 million.
