Oscar award winning director, Sam Mendes talks about Bond movies and more.
According to DESIGN&TREND, ‘Spectre’ director felt like Bond 24 was Daniel Craig’s ‘Goodbye’ to the franchise.
Daniel had been hanging by the tread about whether or not he is going to return to the James Bond Franchise. He has been fired up by this controversies even back when ‘Spectre’ was still being filmed.
There were lots of actors being queued up and even audience in case Craig wanted to jump ship for ‘Bond 25’. The most notable and valuable replacements who were discussed earlier includes Idris Elba, Damien Lewis and Michael Fassbender.
Are these actors going to get a chance to become James Bond? Is Craig really serious about not doing James Bond again? If so what is the reason behind? Our audiences are going on and on with such questions and inquisitions.
Sam Mendes talked about the issue with the same magazine earlier this week. According to him Craig is against being James Bond again. He said he would rather "slash his wrists" than play James Bond again. This was pretty serious. Isn’t it?
However, Sam is quite relaxed that he has an assurance from Sony executives that Craig would fulfill his contract which requires at least one more portrayal as Bond. According to them, Craig is a man of words and a very professional one. He knows how to manage his internal conflicts.
Now the question arises, will he do the next James Bond movie or will we get the chance to see another brand new face?? Sam did not open much about his explicit decisions regarding this matter.
However, he opened up to Empire during their awards show about Craig’s future with the franchise.
"It did feel to me like Daniel was saying goodbye to Bond at the end," said Mendes, "but there's clearly a way he can easily come back. Bond isn't dead! So that's clearly Daniel's call. But I think you've got to feel 100 percent to come back, and I think he knows that. He needs to have a break and do another role and see how he feels after that. I'll be watching with as much interest as you guys."
Given that Craig had gone back and forth for a while over whether he would give in to the role, it is an uncertain business for himself too.
'I don't know," Craig told Esquire. "I really don't know. Honestly. I'm not trying to be coy. At the moment I can't even conceive it."
"At this moment, no. I have a life and I've got to get on with it a bit. But we'll see," he quotes additionally.
So the decision about what he would do, what Mendes would do has not been officially decided. But the fans out there are really curious. We hope they would reach to a conclusion soon.
Sam was a married man until he got divorced to his wife Kate Winslet in 2010. He has one children. His net worth is estimated to be $30 million. His height of success is easily traced from looking at how much he earns.
