Simon Cowell’s decision in selecting judges for X-Factor is unexplainable. It’s like he picks judges through lottery or something. Well, that’s something only Cowell can explain. Ever since it was confirmed that Nick Grimshaw would be the judge for the 13th season of the show, people have been like what? who? how? why? and even God no! Why Grimshaw was chosen is rather hard to explain, who Grimshaw is easy to explain (he’s been all over the internet lately), how is yet again not easyto explain. And for those of us who are like “Please not Grimshaw!!”, you better start liking the apparently “hot, dashing, gleeful” radio and TV personality.
To be a judge lately, all you have to do is apparently make friends with “famous” celebrities. After all, that’s the only great achievement Grimshaw has actually got. No offence Grimshaw but we have really not seen your talent. The Radio 1’s breakfast show host, now at the age of 30, amazingly has a lot of celebrities he calls friends. Maybe that’s the reason Simon Cowell grabbed this guy. Because he certainly wasn’t grabbed for his jockeying talents. In May 2015, Grimshaw's Breakfast Show fell to 5.5 million listeners a week, a tie with Sara Cox's show for the lowest number of listeners in Radio 1's history!!! A new height for the show. We certainly hope that’s not the case with X-Factor as well!
On 17 August 2012, it was reported that Grimshaw was gay which ended any speculation of his love-life affair with female celebrities. Nonetheless, he appeared at number 8 on The Independent's list of the 101 most influential LGBT people in Britain 2012 and in 2015, was named one of GQ's 50 best dressed British men. Let’s be nice here. Yes, although his bio may not be impressive, his dressing style surely is.
We don’t know much about his personal life, but he got his education from the University of Liverpool studying Communication and Media Studies. Born to parents Peter and Eileen, he however failed his final year, graduating with a DipHE rather than a Bachelor's degree. No, we are not trying to question his abilities!
There were positive responses when Nick took to twitter to talk about his role in The X-Factor. With 1.8 million followers, he remains a popular figure. Not to mention, his Instagram is equally popular. Unike Cowell, many people were out of their minds with the decision, questioning Grimshaw’s judging ability. Just to mention, he has not yet produced a song let alone a record. But, Rita Ora seems to be fine with it. Maybe it’s because they are close friends. But, Nick was able to say what kind of a judge he would be. Reports suggest him saying,
“I think I will be nice when I need to be nice and I don’t think I would ever be mean to anyone because it must be so terrifying and nerve-wracking to get up on that stage, but I think I will be real and I will be honest.I think you can say ‘this is the wrong career for you’. If you can’t sing there is no point saying ‘you’re quite good’. If they are not going to win it or you don’t want to see them in the final I don’t think there is any point going any further.”
We do believe you sing well Nick.
