Movie Actor Michael Pitt Makes his Directorial Debut with a Campaign Film for Rag & Bone

Actor Michael Pitt has made his official directorial debut with a campaign film for Rag and Bone's Spring 2015 collection. The model-turned-actor made his directorial debut on the short film “The Driver” promoting fashion brand Rag & Bone's Spring/Summer 2015 line. The video features Pitt and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey and British actor and his co-star, Stephen Graham. Frisbey is the new face of Rag & Bone women’s wear.

The film is 20 minutes long and is produced out of Alldayeveryday. Pitt plays the role of a driver who ponders what it would take for him to find success in the world as he chauffeurs a mafia (Graham) and his girlfriend (Berges-Frisbey) to a club. As they make it to the club, Graham meets up with some of his affiliates in a back room to make an important "transaction" but things go out of control.

The fashion line, Rag & Bone makes appearance throughout the movie. Despite leaving mark in the film, the brand is overshadowed by the strong storyline of the movie. The film features music by Pitt, who is also a musician and a voiceover by iconic actor Gary Oldman.

The short movie is a very unique approach for promoting the brand and showcasing the collections that features both men and women lines (clothes, shoes, accessories).

"As a brand, we love to explore engaging mediums of showcasing our collections and this season we wanted to try a different approach with a film-led campaign," explained Rag & Bone partner Marcus Wainwright. "We thought it would be cool to have a narrative of sorts for the first time."

"We have never explored shooting our menswear and womenswear campaign together before and it definitely added a new dimension," added partner David Neville. "Michael and Astrid also have great chemistry, which really translates."

Fashion campaigns in the recent days are getting entertaining and interesting as top brands like Prada and Gap have step further by coming up with promotional campaigns with their own films.

"Fashion films are evolving and embracing narrative," said Alldayeveryday Executive Producer Arrow Kruse. "The brands leading the way are able to reach new customers by focusing on the overall experience over a product-is-hero approach. The Rag & Bone campaign is a great example of how lifestyle and product incorporated subtly into a story can create desire or brand identification with an audience."

The fashion brands are having neck to neck competition with each other these days as they are taking a whole new approach to promote their names in the world of fashion and entertainment. And, amid this flurry, Michael Pitt has garnered fame by trying out his hand in movie-making.

Michael Pitt is not a new name in show biz. He has appeared in movies like Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers, Gus Van Sant's Last Days, and M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. His television roles includes Jimmy Darmody in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire and Mason Verger in season two of the NBC series Hannibal.

Pitt is a professional musician who sang and played guitar in his band, Pagoda and he also released a self-titled debut album was in 2007.
